The production of postage stamps is undoubtedly considered the supreme discipline in a printing company.
In close collaboration with the Philatelic Office of Liechtenstein, Gutenberg AG was able to present a technical and philatelic breakthrough in July 2009: the first self-adhesive postage stamp with real hole perforation and a slotted front. This invention is now enjoyed not only by stamp users but also by many collectors.
In the security center of Gutenberg AG, both self-adhesive and gummed stamps are continuously produced for the Liechtenstein Post AG Over time, the Swiss Post and other European postal companies have also become regular customers.
As one of the few providers in the German-speaking part, we die-cut self-adhesive or gummed stamp sheets in-house on our stamp die-cutting and slitting machine. This requires extremely precise special tools, which use needle combs to punch the perforation with a counterpart tool.
The stamps are usually die-cut in full sheets and can be slotted on the front in the same process to facilitate easier detachment of the stamps. The sheets are then cut to size and packaged for shipping.
A meticulous inspection of the finished stamp sheets ensures the highest quality standards.
