BerufsCheck 2026: On the afternoon of March 26, this year’s BerufsCheck took place at Gutenberg AG. Once again, we deliberately focused on hands-on experiences rather than dry presentations. Students had the opportunity to actively participate at various stations, explore different professions, and bring their own creative ideas to life.
A creative start to the BerufsCheck 2026
The event kicked off with a creative session: In the Digital Media the young people designed their own stamp2go postage stamp – directly on their mobile phones. Using their own photos and a wide variety of background images, they created individual designs, which were then printed on-site. This allowed the participants to immediately hold their personalized stamps in their hands.
Collaborative design in prepress
Teamwork was key in Prepress. Using Adobe InDesign, the students collaboratively designed the cover for their own notebooks and then produced them directly in-house. This gave them insight into the profession of a graphic designer and showed them how ideas are transformed into concrete designs.
From design to finished product in digital printing
The next step was Digital Printing, where the previously designed cover was produced. Afterwards, the young people were able to complete their own notebooks with a wire binding. Special recognition is due to our apprentice Livia, who is in her first year. She independently presented the department and competently guided the groups through the entire process. Gutenberg AG is proud of Livia's great commitment and professional execution – she mastered this task with great motivation, expertise, and independence.
An insight into offset printing
The Offset Printing became a technical experience: The students learned more about the printing process, took a look inside the machine, and discovered how printing plates are used. They also had the opportunity to try their hand at color mixing – in a fun and engaging way: In a small competition, they had to recreate a given color as accurately as possible. Whoever matched the shade most closely won. This not only sharpened their understanding of color but also sparked their competitive spirit.
Fine-tuning in the finishing department
In the finishing department, precision and a steady hand were required. Here, the young people produced their own rotary printing blocks and could see how a finished product is created from individual printed sheets.
A playful yet instructive ending
Finally, all the groups gathered for a fun Kahoot-quiz. Those who had paid particularly close attention could win a Munchy voucher. But even without the grand prize, the students went home with many new impressions and products they had created themselves. The Career Check 2026 was an exciting and educational experience for everyone involved.
